BYEMITE Termite Bait Stations are designed for easy DIY installation, allowing you to protect your home without relying on expensive pest control services.

Using BYEMITE Termite Bait Stations is simple. Place the stations around your property, focusing on areas near known termite activity or potential entry points. Install them in the soil, ensuring they are flush with the ground, and place a piece of timber (approx 5cm long) in the station and close the lid. Now that they’re installed, you just have to check the stations regularly, and once termites are present, apply bait to eliminate the colony.

Areas to focus on:

  1. Around the foundation: Where soil meets the structure, especially near wooden elements.
  2. Near leaking pipes or drainage areas: Moisture attracts termites.
  3. Close to pergolas, decks, or porches: Especially if they’re made of wood or have wood-to-soil contact.
  4. Mulched garden beds: Organic material close to the house can draw termites.

Focusing on these areas when setting up bait stations will increase their effectiveness.

The BYEMITE system is flexible and cost-effective—you only buy what you need, when you need it. Choose from our different bait station package sizes, and if you need more later, simply purchase a smaller package at a later date.

We've made it easier for you to save by allowing you to use your own wood for the bait stations. This flexibility means you can choose wood from your property or local area, which is more effective since it aligns with the termites' natural food sources. Check the bottom of this page for a list of the most common types of wood that are effective for use in our systems.

Our BYEMITE bait station bundles do not come with pre-supplied bait because you might never need any! This approach also prevents unnecessary expenses on bait that could expire before use. Plus, our bundles avoid locking you into purchasing specific, overpriced bait brands.

Termite bait stations are preferred over other termite control methods for several reasons:

  1. Targeted Approach: Bait stations are designed to specifically target termite colonies. The stations attract foraging termites, which carry the bait back to their nest, gradually eliminating the entire colony. This targeted approach is more effective in addressing the root of the problem rather than just killing the termites you see.
  2. Reduced Environmental Impact: Unlike traditional methods that often involve widespread chemical treatments, bait stations use a minimal amount of active ingredient. This reduces the environmental impact, making it a more eco-friendly option. The bait is contained, so it doesn't spread to other areas.
  3. Long-Term Solution: Bait stations provide a long-term solution by addressing the colony itself. While chemical barriers may only deter termites temporarily or kill individual termites, bait stations aim to eliminate the colony over time, reducing the likelihood of future infestations.
  4. Safe for Humans and Pets: Since the bait is placed inside a station, it’s not easily accessible to children, pets, or non-target animals. This makes it a safer option compared to liquid treatments, which can spread in the soil or air.
  5. Monitors Termite Activity: Bait stations not only act as a treatment method but also serve as monitoring tools. Regular inspection of the stations can reveal termite activity early, allowing for timely intervention before significant damage occurs.

TIMBER & WOOD RECOMMENDATIONS:

In Australia, specific wood types commonly used in termite bait stations include:

  1. Tasmanian Oak ** MOST RECOMMENDED ***: This is another hardwood option sometimes used, particularly in regions where termites target hardwoods. It isn’t as popular as softer woods but can be effective depending on the local termite species.
  2. Radiata Pine: This is a highly attractive option for termites in Australia due to its soft texture, which makes it easy for them to chew through.
  3. Eucalyptus Wood: Though not as soft as pine, some termite bait systems use eucalyptus, especially in areas where termites are already accustomed to feeding on native Australian hardwoods.
  4. Oregon (Douglas Fir): Used in some regions, especially where the local termite species are attracted to this imported softwood.

These woods are selected based on their attractiveness to the specific termite species in different Australian regions. The goal is to use a type of wood that the local termites are naturally inclined to feed on, ensuring the effectiveness of the bait station. If there has been previous termite activity on your property or local area, it is highly recommended to use that specific type of wood in the bait station
