The Planet Parts performance short shifter is designed specifically for Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series models, including 76 and 79 Series, fitted with the H150, H151, or H152 5-speed manual gearbox.

This shifter reduces gear throw to approximately 60% of the factory travel, delivering a noticeably tighter and more precise shift. The shorter throw results in faster gear changes, improved driver control, and a reduced chance of missed shifts, particularly when towing, under load, or in off-road conditions.

How the Short-Throw Mechanism Works
The reduced shift travel is achieved by re-engineering the internal lever geometry. The upper pivot point of the shifter is raised relative to the lower pivot, altering the lever ratio of the gearstick. This means the top of the shifter travels a shorter distance while maintaining the correct movement at the selector rail inside the gearbox. The result is a more direct, mechanical shift feel without compromising internal gearbox operation.

Fully Reversible Design
The Planet Parts short shifter is completely reversible. No permanent modifications are required, and the factory gearstick can be reinstalled at any time. This makes it ideal for vehicles that may later be sold or returned to standard configuration.

Installation Overview
Installation is straightforward and can be completed with basic hand tools. Access is gained by lifting the carpet and rubber boot around the shifter. The factory shifter assembly is removed and the Planet Parts short shifter is installed in its place.

The original gearstick is retained and can be removed from the factory housing by pushing down and rotating the key-slot retainer. No cutting, welding, or drilling is required.

This short shifter is designed to retain compatibility with readily available Toyota service bushings, ensuring long-term serviceability and simple maintenance.
